The Kees de Jager Prize, established in 2021, is awarded annually by Springer Nature to the best article in the journal Solar Physics. The winner is selected by the Editorial Board from all publications of the previous year.

The 2026 Kees de Jager Prize has been awarded to Stephan G. Heinemann and collaborators Dan Yang, Shaela I. Jones, Jens Pomoell, Eleanna Asvestari, Carl J. Henney, Charles N. Arge, Laurent Gizon for the article “Evaluating Solar Wind Forecast Using Magnetic Maps That Include Helioseismic Far-Side Information”. Solar Physics 300, 153 (2025).

Stephan G. Heinemann accepted the prize on behalf of his collaborators at the Solar Wind 17 conference.

This award is honoring the founding editor of the journals Solar Physics and Space Science Reviews as well as the book series Astrophysics and Space Science Library – Cornelis “Kees” de Jager, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 100, and is acknowledging the work of our authors by highlighting outstanding research articles. It carries a certificate and a cash award of €1000 sponsored by Springer Nature.
