and a smaller-scale webinar, “Open Warwick-Weihai Webinar on MHD Seismology” which was also a popular activity during covid and post-covid times: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/physics/research/cfsa/people/valery/research/webinar/.
Over the past months, several people have asked whether these activities might be restarted.
I’m very pleased to say that there is now an opportunity to relaunch the series, with logistical and administrative support from MDPI (including webinar hosting, promotion, and archiving). Importantly, the scientific direction, format, and overall spirit of the activity would remain community-driven, as before.
Before moving forward and given the existence of other similar activities (e.g. ESPOS), I would very much like to consult the community and gather your views. In particular, I’d like to understand:
* whether there is interest in continuing this webinar series (and possibly broadening its scope to e.g. “Solar & Stellar Seismology Forum”, but still keeping it distinct),
* what formats would be most useful (e.g. traditional talks with extended discussion, debate-style sessions, early-career spotlights, etc., or some combination of those formats),
* preferred frequency (monthly, bi-monthly, etc.),
* and any thoughts regarding MDPI’s involvement.
Participation in the webinar series would not imply any obligation to publish with MDPI. However, for those interested, MDPI could optionally provide pathways for collaborative outcomes (such as interdisciplinary Topics or special issues) emerging organically from discussions.
To keep this process simple and transparent, I have prepared a short online form to collect expressions of interest and suggestions: https://forms.gle/XE7XEpqt2rjnwUF9A
This is not a commitment – just a way to help shape the activity together and ensure it reflects the needs and expectations of the community.
***Even a brief response indicating whether or not you would like to see this continued would be greatly appreciated.***
Please feel free to share this further with your colleagues and students. Once I have received your feedback, I will share a short summary and propose next steps, including a possible pilot webinar.
Thank you very much for your time, and I hope we can continue building and using this platform together.
