New versions of science-quality X-ray Sensor (XRS) data for the GOES 8-15 satellites are now available from NCEI. This is the first version for the GOES 8-12 science-quality XRS data, and the second version for the GOES 13-15 science-quality XRS data. The XRS instrument has flown on every GOES satellite, starting with GOES-1 in 1975. This data record spans several solar cycles and is the authoritative record of solar flares at soft X-ray wavelengths. The GOES 8-15 data sets have been reprocessed to remove corrupted data, fill data gaps, set quality flags, and provide detailed metadata. Data products include irradiances, flare summaries, and plots. A soon-to-be-released composite flare report product will include flare information from GOES 8-15 as well from the GOES 16-19 XRS instruments. GOES 1-7 XRS data will be available in 2026.
Updated data and documentation for the GOES XRS instruments can be obtained from https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/goes-1-15/space-weather-instruments and https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/goes-r-extreme-ultraviolet-xray-irradiance.
