Obituary: Anand Bhatia

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Anand Bhatia passed away on 26th June. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. I had the pleasure to work closely with Anand at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center for many years calculating atomic data needed for solar spectroscopy. I visited GSFC often to work with Anand, and also for SMM and SoHO. I thought of NASA/GSFC as my second home. Anand was a distinguished atomic physicist with many publications and a very high international reputation. He was a kind and friendly person always ready to chat with anyone he met about science or life. He always had a cookie in his drawer at GSFC to go with a coffee.
