The MeerKAT Observing Call for Proposals is currently open, with a submission deadline of 12:00 UTC (14:00 SAST) on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Researchers interested in pursuing solar radio science with the MeerKAT telescope are encouraged to submit their proposals before the deadline.

MeerKAT consists of 64 dishes with superb sensitivity on baselines of up to 8 km. This Call offers, for the first time, the newly commissioned solar observation mode to observe the Sun with the telescope boresight in the UHF (580-1015 MHz) and L- (900-1670 MHz) bands.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the proposal guidelines and submission procedures available through the SARAO MeerKAT proposal system. Instructions are available online, which contain the instructions and relevant links. All prospective users are urged to first read this document in its entirety. Instructions, documentation, and the tools required to prepare and submit proposals are also available on the MeerKAT Knowledge Base.

Don’t miss this opportunity to obtain observing time on one of the world’s most sensitive radio interferometers for solar science. For any technical help in preparing the proposal, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] , [email protected]
