- On behalf of the SPD Committee, we would like to make the community aware that we have formed a Special Advocacy Task Force of the Solar Physics Division of the American Astronomical Society (SAT-SPD). The SAT-SPD is a special committee, and is empowered to speak on behalf of the SPD in circumstances in which both the current Chair and Vice Chair are conflicted on matters that require the SPD’s attention. The SAT-SPD communicates regularly with the SPD Committee. As indicated in the charter of the SAT-SPD, the committee is generally comprised of past SPD Chairs, with the logic that these individuals have been empowered to speak on behalf of the SPD in the past in their role as duly elected officers of the SPD. The continued need for the SAT-SPD will be reevaluated at each regular meeting of the SPD at the SPD Committee’s discretion.
A huge thank you to the current SAT-SPD members: Craig DeForest (chair), Dale Gary, and Dana Longcope.

- The annual meeting of the SPD will be with AAS in Anchorage, June 8-12, 2025. Please see Amy’s special Solar News announcement for full details, including studentships, and dependent care grants. Abstracts are open until April 10th! Please note that there were two SPD-associated sessions that were not linked to SPD in the initial launch of the abstract website: ‘Unveiling the Solar Poles’ and ‘Highlights from Parker Solar Probe’. We look forward to seeing everyone in Anchorage!
