Solar Wind-Interstellar Medium (SWIM) Workshop, Aug. 11-15, Stowe Vermont, USA

Join us for the inaugural Solar Wind–Interstellar Medium (SWIM) Workshop, a community-wide forum dedicated to all aspects of outer heliospheric science—from the origins of the solar wind to the structure and dynamics of the very local interstellar medium (VLISM).

Recently our understanding of the physics of both the inner and outer heliosphere has grown. There is now a considerable breadth of available in-situ and remote observations—from Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, Voyagers 1 and 2, New Horizons, Cassini, IBEX, and soon IMAP—alongside major advances in numerical and analytical modeling. These efforts have not only deepened our understanding of the data but have also raised new and important questions.

This community-wide workshop will explore all facets of the heliosphere and the very local interstellar medium (VLISM), including in-situ and remote observations, data analysis, theoretical studies, and modeling. Topics include plasma physics, magnetic fields, energetic neutral atoms (ENAs), solar energetic particles (SEPs), pickup ions (PUIs), dust, ultraviolet (UV) emissions, and cosmic rays in the heliosphere and beyond.

All members of the outer heliosphere community and related areas are welcome and encouraged to attend. Some travel support will be available for student and postdoctoral researchers. See details on the conference website.
