Since 2015, by agreement with NASA, ESA facilitates scientists working in its Member States to be trained and to act as science planners for IRIS, allowing them to learn the process of planning and to get access to time to run their own experiments with the mission.

ESA’s 11th announcement of opportunity is expected to be issued on 22nd April this year and the heliophysics community is encouraged to submit their proposals. The website for this year’s call is here: https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/iris-2025. Until the call is open, you can consult the pages of last year’s announcement at https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/iris-2024.

As in previous years, all IRIS science planning and training can be done remotely, so there is no requirement for the successful applicants to carry out these activities in Palo Alto, CA, USA.
